Solar can play a major role in controlling expenses long-term.
100 kW Net Metering
Meaford
Interesting Fact: Blackline Power also replaced the steel roofing on the building prior to the solar installation. While we install on a variety of roofing types, we recommend steel as it is both extremely long-lasting and more environmental than asphalt.
Project Details: The client is an international Christian ministry that runs a bible institute, youth camps and other events year-round. They have a large campus and high electricity usage. This solar system will fully offset one of their three electricity accounts and consistently reduce their expenses for the next 30-40 years.
10 kW Net Metering
Meaford
Interesting Fact: Many churches have very steep rooftops that require the use of a lift to safely install the solar system. The picture at the top of this page shows the installer’s view from the lift platform. It’s not a job for the faint of heart!
Project Details: The priest had experience with solar from a MicroFIT system installed at her previous church and thus already knew the benefits. The Church Council opted for net metering at this site as it offered the highest rate of return (MicroFIT payment rates decreased steadily as the program matured).
10 kW MicroFIT R&R
Sauble Beach
Interesting Fact: When installed properly, solar panels increase the longevity of the roofing material as they protect it from the weather. When deciding on solar, if your rooftop isn’t relatively new, you have to weigh the costs of replacing your roofing prematurely or deciding to remove and re-install the system in the future.
Project Details: This church chose the latter option. They were an early adopter of the MicroFIT Program and after ~8 years required new asphalt roofing. Blackline Power was hired for the R&R and we worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done on a tight schedule before winter set in.
