How It All Started

ONE SOLAR SYSTEM AT A TIME.

In 2010, Blackline Power installed one of the first large solar FIT projects in Ontario at an equestrian centre near Meaford. This system will generate enough electricity to power 30 homes for 40 years carbon-free! Today, we have a portfolio of ground mount and rooftop projects throughout southwestern Ontario. Blackline Power has built solar systems for homeowners, businesses, non-profits, First Nations and municipalities.

We are a full service provider. We consult with you to determine the best solutions for your needs and goals, we design optimal systems, and we install, monitor and manage your entire project. We are highly trained, solar certified and committed to ensuring your project is a success. Blackline Power is a member of the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) and owner Rob Black is a NABCEP Certified Solar Installation Professional.

Meet the Owners

Rob Black

BES, BEd, OCT, NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional

Rob has advanced solar PV training from world-renowned Solar Energy International in Colorado, is one of ~20 NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certified solar installers in Canada and one of only 11 in Ontario. He has an Environmental Studies degree from the University of Waterloo and moved on from teaching high school to pursue his passion for renewable energy by founding Blackline Power. Education and raising public awareness about the multiple benefits of solar are key company mandates. Rob strives to live and work on a better planet where we all believe we can make a difference. He splits his time between the office and the field and can often be found navigating rooftops and conversing on-site with clients.

Joy Black

BSc (Hons), MES

Joy has been in project management for over 20 years, primarily for not-for-profit organizations, and has a masters degree in Environmental Planning from the University of Waterloo. Her passion for wildlife and the environment was sparked in university when she lived in Algonquin Park for two years tracking and researching wolves. Now she chases the sun on behalf of Blackline Power clients and manages the administrative details of their solar agreements.
